Hiking, Bushwalking & Exploring: What’s Next?
When I first started this blog about 18 months ago, it was really just a way to share my hiking stories with others. I’ve always loved writing (I always kept a diary growing up, plus English and English Literature were my favourite subjects at school), and it seemed like the perfect way to share my love of getting out there on the hiking trails, in the hope that I was also able to inspire others.
My work over the last few years has been to support small business owners in developing and growing their businesses. Many of these businesses came as a result of someone loving to do a particular thing, then turning it into what they do as a day job.
Also (increasingly) important to me is to give back. Give back my time, sharing my skills, and supporting charities or foundations that are doing great things in this world. Regular readers will know all about my trip to Mexico a few months ago.
I’ve been goal setting and daydreaming for a while now. How can I do what I love, make a difference to causes I believe in, and also possibly make an income out of it? I’ve tried a couple of things.
The latest was to be a new event along the Surf Coast. Unfortunately it wasn’t to be. The council gave it a thumbs down. I totally get why it was rejected – there have been SO MANY events popping up lately. All for the same target market, in the same area. So – I’m shelving that idea….and moving on,
So, this leads me to what’s next. First up is another event that I’ll be supporting – The Surf Coast Trek (we’re just working out details of what my ‘help’ will look like).
Plus….there is that long term ‘big hairy scary goal’ I set while in Mexico…..
