Hi – I’m Sam…and I LOVE to hike.
Following a rough marriage separation (aren’t they all?), and (hardly) coping with a baby that just wouldn’t sleep I was desparate for a way to rediscover ‘me’, and carve out some time for myself. One day I threw on my runners and hit the hiking trails in the You Yangs. And I never looked back…
Hiking soon became something that I had to do. The fresh air, beautiful scenery and pushing myself physically fed my soul, cleared my head and helped lift me out of the funk I was in. It was something that I did just for me – and as a result I became a better mum, and friend/sister/daughter.
While out hiking my creativity would flow – which led me to starting this Blog where I share my experiences in the hope that it will also encourage others to get outside and give it a go.
I can regularly be found wandering the trails of the You Yangs, Surf Coast, and Great Ocean Road…and further afield whenever I can manage it. A self-confessed dreamer and lifelong traveller/adventurer, I always have at least few hikes in the planning stage.
Following a recent trip to Mexico with The Hunger Project (where we hiked deep into the mountains in Oaxaca), I’m also keen to give back whenever possible and will always be open to hearing about opportunities to do more of this.
